Colorado snow totals today1/13/2024 I “black-dotted” downtown Durango, downtown Telluride, Purgatory base, and Wolf Creek base. I am really looking forward to not saying that in the future. Snow levels will be tricky for the first half of the storm. In my final forecast, I will convert it all to snow. Yesterday I displayed the liquid equivalent precipitation forecasts (total QPF). Speaking of it being a large system, the models (even the GFS) are all back in agreement that this is going to be a significant precipitation-maker! This is a large system and it would not be unusual to have left-overs. The models are mostly in agreement that the system will move out by early Sunday morning. I would not be surprised to see the models slow the system back down before it arrives. Although there is widespread agreement with this, experience tells me that it is rare that closed low-pressure systems from the southwest speed up before they arrive here. It could be no more than a few drops in the lower elevations to anywhere from a dusting to 3 inches of snow by morning across the rest of the forecast area.įor this weekend, the models have moved up the onset of precipitation until late Friday evening/night. This will result in light rain and snow showers. It is not significant, but a small disturbance will work its way through the area, likely beginning early this evening. I have been mentioning an increased chance of light showers between late yesterday and Thursday. There have been a lot of changes in the last 24 hours in the models, first in the short term.
